The Promise Danielle Steel 9780751505542 Books Reviews
I am a fan of Danielle Steel from way back. I bought a a couple of months ago. Last week I found this book of hers in kindle format and knew I had to have it. The story, as always with Mrs. Steel, was excellent, did not want to put it down. But one thing kept making me a little mad, there were at least 25 or more words mis-spelled. Example, at on place it should have said "he put his arm around her"....instead it said " he put his aim around her". I know this is being picky, but after paying over $6 for it, I as highly disappointed. Again, a wonderful story, well worth the read, if you can get by with words being mis-spelled.
This is without a doubt my favorite of all her books. I have seen the movie version and own it. I have read this book so many time that I went through four copies that fell apart before it went to ebook. Now I don't have to buy any more copies, I have it at my finger tips.
I enjoyed the book very much and it lead me to buy the Danielle Steele DVD movie set in which the original "The Promise" movie was included as a bonus.
I saw the movie YEARS ago and read this book back then. Both were fabulous! Very much enjoyed the book again. Lives can and do change in a heartbeat!
15 pages into what starts as a simple & uninspiring story, & then the hook is in. It flows. The story never gets boring. You do not want to stop reading. It is a perfect smooth read. Enjoy one of her best.
Why in the world are there so many grammatical and spelling errors in this book? Is the real copy this horrible or is it just the version? The story seems okay but it is getting ridiculous when "right" is spelled "rigjht". It makes the author look dumb. I read The Cottage too and it was not grammatically correct. Punctuation was missing, misspelled words, words used in the wrong context, and run on sentences. I love the story lines so far but this is the last Danielle Steele novel I will buy until they fix the issues. Very disappointing since I paid for these books.
**Edit** 9/21/2010 I just finished this book amd I have to say that it was easily one of the best stories I have read. So romantic. The characters were so likeable or able to be hated. I would have loved to have given this book a 5 but the typo's were too much.
Read this book in one day it was a good book but kinda predictable .I love her book's but some more than others but I wanted more. But it was a good book that I did enjoy I can't wait for the new book's to come out.I'm patiently waiting for the next book's
"The Promise" is pure, classic Danielle Steel circa 1978. I hadn't read any of her first books since they first came out, so this was a bit of nostalgia. Although I read this book on a plane, I wasn't distracted by the repetition we see in her later work. The plot, although predictable, was interesting nevertheless. The charactor development, especially of Nancy, was quite good. This book, which is actually a novelization of a screenplay by another author, launched DS's writing career. I recommend it to anyone who is looking for a quick, easy read, a trip down memory lane.
