I really enjoyed this retelling of Beauty and the Beast. It had enough creative changes to make it suspenseful and surprising without completely departing from the story. Aribelle and Thad were so achingly real; the way he handles her father's puzzle is like a primer on romantic tenderness.
I've loved everything I've ever read by Victorine Lieske and this one didn't disappoint! I love that it has more depth than her sweet romance (which are fantastic, by the way - highly recommend), but this one has a fantasy element that takes it in an unexpected direction. Very cool. I hope Victorine writes more like this!
I enjoy a good fairytale retelling and this book sure did it for me! I wasn't sure how much I'd like the modern setting but it ended up coming together beautifully! I really liked the way the author kept/included fairytale elements and mixed in her own twists to make the story work. The romance was great and the story was different enough that I couldn't wait to see what would happen next!
you'll like this story as there are many parallels. The story and characters mirror the Disney story we have Aribelle instead of Belle and Gavin instead of Gaston. The setting is modern, yet the Beast just happens to have ball gowns stored in his home that fit Aribelle, and they dance in a ballroom. The story was sweet, but I was not overwhelmed.
Loved this Book. I love reading new versions of Beauty and the Beast. I tend to collect them, both book and movie versions. I was especially enchanted with this version and the twist in the story which I'm not going to tell you about. Haha. You have to read it and discover what the secret is. I promise you will love it. Well worth the price of admission.
Aribelle goes to work for the mysterious Thaddeus who is scarred and crabby. This is pretty much the classic Beauty and the Beast tale with a paranormal twist on what makes Thaddeus a beast.
I didn't realize that it was a YA story so it was pretty juvenile for my tastes. I got it because I do love Beauty and the Beast type stories. It's a clean romance and I'm sure teenagers love it, but it wasn't my cup of tea.
I liked how it was clean and good. There was nothing inappropriate. It was a creative take on Beauty and the Beast. The writing was not very advanced at all. I would say it was 4th or 5th grade level or below. The writing style amd structure wasn't very exciting or interesting. But something about this book made it so I still finished it. I think the author could really write something amazing with more practice and work, which is why I gave it 5 stars. This story was great! I just got disappointed when it wasn't complex or well-written.
